Alankar theatre has been active on the street with plays like Gagan-Da-Mama-Bajiyo, Koshish Jaari hai, Safai Ki Ladaai, Matdaan zaroori hai, Zara Sochiye, Samantta, etc. Over 1000 shows have been performed with the aim of planting seeds of social change in the conscience of people. Alankar Theatre has also performed plays on taboo topics like Sex education and Periods in various rural parts of North India. It is said that art can bloom even in the most difficult of times and this was proved during the lockdown when we staged our plays in the homes of people belonging to small villages to spread awareness and to keep the art going on in ourselves.
Our works are based on the writings of playwrights like Munshi Prem Chand, Dharamveer Bharti, Hari ShankarParsai, Bhartendu Harishchandra, Piyush Mishra, Pratap Sehgal, Sahadat Hasan Manto, W. Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov, Shankar Shesh, Chingiz Aitmatov, Irshad Kamil, etc. Now we are writing the scripts as well, We have a team of young Artists Interested in writing which included professional Artists as well.
Alankar Theatre has proudly mothered more than 500 brilliant artists so far and has administered workshops for more than 1,500 individuals. Group members of Alankar Theatre range from 8 to 82 years of age. Through drama, we hope to catalyze the ongoing social changes and desire to recast the social fabric in a positive manner. Our Aim is to bring everyone together to create and built a positive environment for people. We want to include everyone, As every single person has their beauty.
